Starbucks Coffee Company

Barista

January 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I like working with a team who will support and appreciate me, teaching me as I grow into the company. I also enjoy making customer connections with usual customers and making their experience great.

What I wish was different

I would want to train longer because there's a lot of stuff to learn. After training for a week and a half, they put you on the floor right away.

Advice

Make sure you try your best. The work is fast paced and it may take a while to get better, but as long as you communicate that you need help, you'll have a better experience.

I loved being able to learn how to make some of my favorite drinks. Also the overall experience I was gaining such as handling money and customer service.

What I wish was different

I wish I had spoke up when there were certain things happening that shouldn’t have happened in a work space.

Advice

I would say to get to know the company because that can be used as motivation when you go into work.

Barista

May - August 2019 • Henrietta, NY

What I liked

I love working with a team of friendly people, all there to help every customer have a good day. I also loved learning more about coffee and being able to teach the customers/ give them recommendations based on what I learned.

What I wish was different

There is really nothing I think that i would have changed.

Advice

I have always wanted to work for Starbucks but was always scared to apply. But working there was awesome! It honestly met all my expectations. If there is something that you have always wanted to do/try just go for it! The worst that could happen is that it doesn't work out and a failed opportunity is much better than a missed one.

The benefits for this company are fantastic and very accommodating for all different circumstances people may be going through.
