What I liked

I really liked that I got to learn about he entire operations of Target from each department. Yes, you will work in each department and learn about every role from entry level positions to the highest level manager positions in the store. The people are very friendly and most of them are helpful.

What I wish was different

The hours are kind of long usually 8 1/2 hour days 6 days a week basically. You get every other weekend off and one day off every week. You typically have to be there every morning at 7am and close once a week.

Advice

Watch what you say, seek advice from you STL (boss) and mentor, and be ready to be an early morning person.

What I liked

Guest satisfaction was my greatest experience. I love that I was able to help our Target guests locate what they were looking for and if I was unable to, I was gladly able to point them in the correct direction to satisfy their needs.

What I wish was different

I do not wish of anything different. Target is a great company to work for.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share about this experience is how going in with a positive attitude is best. I had the enjoyment of helping others out and it was a great outcome that you would receive everyday working at Target.

Workplace culture was very welcoming as encouraging. My coweorks continually work as team and assist in personal development. Also, the position's dual focus on management and operations is very rare.

What I liked

I liked that I got to work with a team of helpful people and that I got to see a lot of my neighbors as guests.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had gotten more hours. My plan was to work a lot this summer but unfortunately I only worked 12-16 hours per week.

Advice

I would say that you do need some patience as some of the guests (in any type of retail or customer service job) can get a little out of hand. But overall, if you keep calm and have a great attitude the guests will mirror that.

What I liked

My coworkers and bosses were for the most part very nice and helped make this not-the-most-interesting job a little bit more fun. I also genuinely enjoy running Ship From Store, collecting & boxing items guests have ordered online to be shipped to their houses.

What I wish was different

Nothing huge; of course, I’d rather stay at home and hang out with my family than work, and there was no shortage of days that were stressful, boring, or both, but that’s the way jobs are, and there’s not much anyone can do about that.

Advice

Just stay optimistic. If I knew my shift was going to be unpleasant for whatever reason, I went in humming an upbeat song (no joke) and kept it stuck in my head through the whole shift.
