The team, the area, learning more about supply chain, everything! I loved learning more about the company and more about the program I was working on.

What I wish was different

I wish I had a heavier work load at times, but with how little training I had it wasn't very possible.

Advice

I was open minded going into a state I had never been before not knowing anyone and it ended up being one of the best summers I could've asked for, so remember to always be open minded!

What I wish was different

Finance intern

June 2018 • Lexington, KY

What I liked

The company is amazing. People are great and want to see you succeed in every aspect. Very good teachers.

What I wish was different

Nothing. It was and still is literally the best internship you could ever ask for.

Advice

Know Excel! I use it every day. It is vital to know how to use it and work it. Take bae 105 serious. I also can't say what I got paid. It goes against our ethics and I can get into serious trouble. It is very competitive though.

Mechanical Design Intern

May - August 2018 • Grand Prairie, TX

What I liked

Lockheed does their best to give interns actual work that matters to the program, and gives them plenty of freedom to learn. The people are always super helpful, and the managers will do their best to adjust your workload to your ability. The intern program involves a speaker series that includes the vice president and executive vice president, as well as many program managers and others who were able to give amazing insight into the company and advice to the interns.

What I wish was different

Honestly, Lockheed has everything I would hope for in a company: a great culture, enjoyable work, and excellent pay.

Advice

Lockheed looks for the best of the best students, almost to their detriment. Getting in requires something significant on your resume that makes you stand out above the rest (for me, this was the fact that I received a full academic scholarship). The one key skill they are looking for in Mechanical Engineers is CAD experience, so gaining and stating this experience is very important. When I interviewed, these were the only two things my interviewer had highlighted on my resume.
