What I liked
What I liked about Japan was the learning experience of course. I learned about the different vaccinations and procedures following animals being transported over seas by people in the military.
What I wish was different
Advice
One piece of advice I could share about my experience is leaving your comfort zone. Where you are comfortable is where you are unwilling to change. Traveling over seas and being able to adapt to a different environment and working around a language barrier helped me become a better student of medicine.

I loved the freedom to create my own schedule and book my days how I liked. I did not have normal 9-5pm days, they varied and were up to me.

I wish my advisor was on campus so that I could be accountable for my work.

Make sure you write a list of expectations at the begging of the summer so that you can gauge your progress at the summer more tangibly.
