Colorado State University

Graduate Teaching Assistant

August 2015 - May 2017 • Fort Collins, CO

What I liked

I liked the flexibility of the position. I had to get 20 hours in per week, but that could occur at night and weekends to grade papers. I also loved the faculty in the Hospitality Program- they made the job easy and enjoyable. It was also fun to work with undergraduate students and help them grow and develop their knowledge base and skillset.

What I wish was different

I wouldn't have changed anything.

Advice

I would recommend that GTAs get their own work done on time. Procrastinating can cause stress when personal work deadlines collide with student teaching deadlines.

Advice

I ended up getting the job through one of the professor's who taught a class in my program. I think if you are a good student who tries hard and does good work, it will be noticed. Don't be afraid to ask for help from professor's at their office hours.
