Sales

June 2021 • Vienna, VA

What I liked

I liked that at the time, j was making more money than the average teen. Also liked it was my own hours.

What I wish was different

I wish that the sign up would have been more specific on what exactly I was going to do. I wish that the manager that I was assigned with did not constantly berade me by telling me that I don't sell anything and I am bad at it, when a fee days before hand during the days of training the manger told me that I was "very" good at it. At the time before I quit days after the training, I was considered one of the "best" at marketing according to the manager. After what the manager told me, all that the manager said was false I came to find out.

Advice

If you do not know a lot of adult people to begin and if you just don't have lots of contacts in the first place, this job will be difficult when you run out of contacts and people to sell to.

Virtual Assistant

April - July 2022 • Oaklyn, NJ

What I liked

I liked how great and helpful everyone was. When positions are virtual, I find it harder to make connections with people but everyone that I worked with for Vector including managers and even higher ups, EVERYONE was amazing! I have no complaints.

What I wish was different

Wish I were able to get a position that was offered all year long.

Advice

Make sure you are computer user friendly and able to follow instructions that are given via email and word document.

Field Sales Manager

May 2021 • San Mateo, CA

What I liked

You got to set your own hours and work as often as you want to. The managers and division managers genuinely care about your own personal growth and want to succeed whether you stay with the program or drop

What I wish was different

I wish that I hadn't had to do cold calls, but it definitely prepped me to do more work, and land a FT job this next summer.

Advice

It's a bit of a grind, but if you have the entrepreneurial spirit (You know you're going to do well no matter where you go) it's a great place to make good money and find good people.

Sales Representative

February 2020 - August 2021 • Rye, NY

What I liked

I was able to talk with many different clients through zoom and was able to come many mutually beneficial decisions on products that worked out for both sides. Commission pay incentivized me to sell more and allowed me to be more on my own terms and determine my schedule. I really liked the Sales Conference in August which I learned a lot from.

What I wish was different

I wish the experience was more in person, but considering Covid-19 the job had to be fully remote. I was unable to meet with clients and do in-person demonstrations of the product.

Advice

Sales is an essential skill to practice and get better at for life in general and especially the professional workspace. I improved my communication skills and became more confident talking to many different types of people.

Sales Representative

December 2020 • Columbus, OH

What I liked

I love the opportunity that Vector provides. I have grown in my leadership, communication, and time management skills through this position. And I love getting paid for the amount of effort I put in. Vector rewards hard work, so I profited from putting long hours in.

What I wish was different

I wish I had worked a little harder and had a better attitude at work. I did not always want to work, which made my job less fun than it could have been.

Advice

For this experience, I would recommend that you follow the advice of your managers. There is a lot of flexibility working for Vector, so it is easy to ignore your managers advice. But if you do what they teach you, you will succeed in this position.

Assistant Manager

April 2018 • Tampa, FL

What I liked

The experience I gained as a manager. This was able to help me grow professional and personally and further develop problem solving and critical thinking skills when it comes to real-world application.

What I wish was different

I wish I would of have taken some time off because I did work 40-50+ hour weeks and I did not have time to go on any vacation.

Advice

Definitely the best experience I could have possibly received as a 18-19 year old. If you are looking to learn how to run an efficient business and how to properly manage people while making a high income, then this is the job for you!

Sales representitive

July 2020 • Farmington, CT

What I liked

I like my Co-workers and supervisors, they are very helpful. Also enjoy communications work with people I don't know. I like how the pay works, even though it can be very frustrating to go to very long meetings and not get paid sometimes. It usually works out when you make a larger sale and can divide the pay up hourly it usually comes out pretty good! I like the incentives and scholarships that they give you for working hard.

What I wish was different

I wish that when I had joined I would have known that it was a bigger commitment than I thought it was going to be at first. The weekly meetings are a little tedious with usually very helpful. I don't like phoning for demos, but it's nice to have your co-workers phoning and hyping you up while you do it too.

Advice

Push yourself and give it a real chance. If you only stay a few days then you don't really know what the experience will be like. I would say do a minimum of two weeks once you start to really understand the job and give it a chance. It can be very intimidating from the start of it.

Sales Representative

June 2015 - August 2017 • Sandy, UT

What I liked

There were so many things I loved about working with Vector Marketing. In my opinion, this is the best opportunity for college students. I loved... - The flexible schedule. I was able to schedule my appointments around my classes. - The pay structure. I appreciated being paid weekly and for the effort I put in. - The culture. Some of the people I met at Vector became lifelong friends. - The travel. Once I advanced into management roles, I had the opportunity to travel the country (and the world) for conferences and on incentive trips. - The advancement opportunity. I advanced into management quickly and was able to run a Branch Office at the age of 19. I don't know of any other company that believes in young people as much as Vector Marketing does.

What I wish was different

I wish I had held myself more accountable. Because it's not an hourly position (and especially now that it's 100% remote), it can be difficult to stay motivated and hold yourself to your schedule, but I am glad that I had the opportunity to work through this and gain these soft skills at a young age. I now own my own business and because I learned how to manage my time and stick to my schedule, I'm much better off.

Advice

My biggest piece of advice to anyone thinking about interviewing with Vector Marketing is to give yourself a chance. I know sales has a bad rap and can be intimidating (especially if you don't have any prior sales experience like I did), but you will never regret the experience and knowledge you'll gain from working with Vector Marketing. Anyone has the chance to succeed if you work hard and be patient with yourself.

Field Sales Leader

May 2020 • Frederick, MD

What I liked

I love my manager and I created my own schedule for complete flexibility. Also with Covid this summer I was able to work all remotely and started immediately when school got out in May. I got promoted to Assistant Manager after 3 months and got 3 raises I'm on track to get my 4th one by the end of the year They do personal and professional growth conferences for FREE and tons of training so I got really good at communication and customer service skills

What I wish was different

I sold 27.8k and I really wanted to hit 30k but honestly, that was a personal goal that my manager encouraged me to go after but I never felt pressured by her. Also at the end of the summer when I had to leave for school and I didn't get it yet she was incredibly supportive. If I hit 30K I was eligible for a scholarship so maybe I could have done a few more small things to reach that goal.

Advice

Get out of your comfort zone and take this opportunity. SO many young people hate the idea of sales but having 2 summers in the profession (last year I sold used cars) it is the best way to develop yourself professionally. Vector specifically works with college students to grow them and they invest so much in us as people and the team atmosphere of a little competition a lot of encouragement is honestly the PERFECT balance and such a great environment for growth

Assistant Manager

June 2018 • North Andover, MA

What I liked

What I wish was different

Advice

The experience is valuable but remote management has an entirely different list of challenges and obstacles to overcome. That being said, the company was thorough in its training and preparation and I would recommend pursuing work with this company only if you are highly independently motivated as much of the wages earned are not passive but come about from work done as a sales representative. It IS NOT a clock in clock out and get paid job.
