Kohls Management Summer Internship

June - August 2019 • Marina, CA

What I liked

I loved the environment. My Store Manager was really helpful and understood that I was an intern looking to learn.

What I wish was different

I wish there was another intern at my store. Usually there is up to two or three interns but in my occasion I was the only one.

Advice

Go in with an open mind. I never though retail would be something I enjoyed but this internship is much more than just cashiering or fixing the firing rooms. You are learning how to run an entire store and business. I loved that I was exposed to different levels of management. There was a lot of hats I had to put on since you're learning a lot of new things such as merchandising, omni process and supply chain management.

Kohls Associate

March - August 2019 • Pearland, TX

What I liked

I like the fact that I got to work for a company that I have affiliated myself to for my whole life. I also like the fact that I was able to work in various areas of the store, and learned how to do diferent things. There were several employees that I felt very close with. The employees there were very comfortable with themselves, and really make that place feel like home.

What I wish was different

I wish more people would take their job seriously. The time we had for breaks was too small.

Advice

Its an environment that does not demand alot from their employees. This job should still be taken seriously.

Carrier Sales Representatitve

May - August 2019 • Bedford Hills, NY

What I liked

I liked how laid back the role was. In comparison to other Corporate positions, not a lot was required of me. Also, since Kohl’s already had a company culture established, none of my superiors or managers were ever rude to me. I got plenty of hours and was treated with respect.

What I wish was different

I wish my job as a Sales Assistant wasn’t so focused on soliciting credit. I felt uncomfortable asking customers to apply for the credit card and most of them already had one. It was annoying because the number of hours worked was determined by the number of credit card applications you processed.

Advice

Don’t be afraid to voice your opinions and ask for change when you need. For instance, I was usually shy but I learned to communicate with my managers. Doing so allowed me to ask for training in departments that I wanted to work instead of wasting time. By the end of the summer, I was working in the jewelry department.
