What I liked

I loved learning about my potential career this summer! As a pharmacy student, I really loved getting to know the processes by which the pharmacy operates and functions, as well as getting amazing experience in my field of study. I think that this opportunity broadened my skills and helped me truly motivate myself in continuing my educational career in the pharmacy program at Butler University.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have started earlier; because I got a little bit of a late start to my summer job, I feel that just when I felt comfortable around the pharmacy, I had to leave to go back to school. Though I am so thankful for this experience, I wish I could've started sooner so I would feel even more excited about going back!

Advice

I think that, having worked in a place that I want to for the rest of my career, finding something that you are interested in as a long-term job is crucial to your experience as a worker and student. It opens your mind to the options you have going into the career, and gives you the motivation to do your best so you can do what you love well!

It was a shadow and classroom setting to see if I was fit for a DM, which I was and we are awaiting an opening.

The length of the internship.

Be patient but be hungry to learn as much as possible in the little time you are present.

Training classes are mandatory and their locations are quite far and tedious, including modules you have to do.

Having the weekly schedule come out on time. Had a reasonable manager. Not having customers that threaten you

It was awful. I hated the job. The company is not horrible but the location was. Highly unreccomended

Keep an organized schedule, you have to give two weeks notice for any time off.

I work at a very busy store so maybe I would have chose a slower store just to be able to take more in.

If you are looking to go into a career in pharmaceuticals you should really do this to get your feet wet and see if you’ll like it.

That the hours were more stable.

Be a float if you can, it can be tough adjusting to new environments every day but the freedom is worth it

What I liked

I really enjoy helping people save money. It’s hard seeing people struggle to purchase medications that they need to be taking on a daily basis, so when possible, I work to try to reduce the cost.

What I wish was different

Not much. I am a hard worker and always give my job my all.

Advice

Be patient. When people come into the pharmacy majority of the time is because they are sick. The only thing they want is to be home, so I always remember to be patient because I know what being sick feels like.
