Advice

Not everyone is as lucky as i am to be given patient guidance and to be taught well. My pharmacist constant helps me improve in areas that i know im weak in. Telling her about what i would like to learn, she eagerly begins to explain what i may or may not needed for future purposes.

Cashier

June - August 2018 • Lenox, MA

What I liked

I really enjoyed getting to know my coworkers and working with the community. It's tough working in a pharmacy because most people are there because they are sick. Having a positive impact on people having a bad day made this experience meaningful for me.

What I wish was different

I wish I didnt have to commute 45 minutes to the store where I worked.

Advice

I think working a job over the summer is good for making money, but if you are looking to gain experience in the field you are aspiring to join then you should find a job that is related to your field of study.

Pharmacy Technician

June 2018 • Forest Hills, NY

What I liked

I originally applied as a sales associate at CVS/pharmacy. However, the manager approached me with an offer of a higher salary and more flexible hours if I agreed to do the required training and work as a pharmacy technician. As a college student, the offer of a higher salary and more convenient hours really enticed and ultimately persuaded me to take the job. I knew it would be a challenge considering I knew nothing about pharmacy because I am a finance major. I love learning new things every day that I wouldn't have otherwise never known had I not taken the job. The environment is very fast paced which I personally prefer.

What I wish was different

I would've preferred to have known beforehand how extensive the training would've been. Nonetheless, it was all worth it. Because although every day brings new challenges of all kinds and the days are tough, I love my job.

Advice

If considering working as a Pharmacy Technician for CVS/pharmacy be prepared to do the work and all the necessary training. If you like a challenge, then this job is definitely for you! Be ready to learn fast!
