Global Consumer Technology Summer Analyst Intern

June - August 2020 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

Although it was virtual, Citi did a great job creating an applicable learning experience for the interns. We had a 5-week internship where each week we had a different topic to learn about and then applied what we learned through a deliverable that managers or teams from Citi could pick it up! In addition, each day we either had mentor meetings or guest speakers who talked to us about their roles and any other questions we had.

What I wish was different

Honestly, I thought it was one of the best programs in the virtual format and could not have been done better.

Advice

Go in with an open mind. Although it wouldn't be your "typical" internship experience, it was an experience I will never forget because it helped me discover what I want to do in the future!

Very valuable and relevant training.

Finance Intern

July - August 2020 • Getzville, NY

What I liked

I really enjoyed the hands on experience I was given in just five short weeks. During my time I worked on an individual project for the department in which I was placed along with a group project for the internship program. It felt important to me that both of these projects were important to the organization and would be useful to others after I was gone making them much more meaningful to me.

What I wish was different

Due to the pandemic my internship was cut to just a five weeks from eight. I wish I would have been able to be there for the full eight weeks in person to learn more but I think the organization did an excellent job in making our short time very worth while and meaningful.

Summer Analyst

July - August 2020 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

Although the internship program got shortened due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Citi was extremely helpful and accommodating throughout the entire process. The team that I worked for made a large effort to make sure that we still got to know each other, despite being virtual. The training program was extremely professional and helpful and we had amazing exposure to senior members of the bank. I had an amazing experience and always felt a great balance of support and challenge.

Account representative

September 2018 • Jacksonville, FL

What I liked

Great company to work for! The culture is absolutely amazing!!

What I wish was different

I wish I would have requested a higher rate of pay when filling out the application.

Advice

Nerve racking at first. There is a lot of information to take in and learn. However, they train you for 2 months for the job and after training you are still on a learning curve for an additional 4 months to ensure your success. It does all come together and gets easier with time.

Summer Analyst

June 2017 - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I loved my boss (a williams alum who really took me under her wing), living in NYC, and doing a job that paid well and provided me with the opportunity of full time employment after graduation.

What I wish was different

Finance was not the right industry for me, and I often felt uncomfortable in the work environment due to the constant time pressure and male dominant space of the office.

Advice

Really research the finance industry and what it is like to work there. Don’t just go into an internship like this because it’s easy or because it’s what all of your friends have been doing.
