What I liked

Amazing place to work. I work at Amazon Web Services and the scale at which we operate is mind blowing.

What I wish was different

Probably more fun at work.

Advice

I would say, do what you love. Early in your career, compensation is not important. The work you do, how much you learn everyday sets your path for your life.

June - August 2019 • Baltimore, MD

What I liked

The constantly changing environment & hands-off management style

What I wish was different

A little more structure in the intern program would have been nice.

Meet as many people as you possibly can. In addition to building a network, coworkers have tremendous influence over your personal experience as an intern, and having good relationships will greatly enhance it.

Delivery Associate

July - August 2019 • San Leandro, CA

What I liked

I liked the overall pay.

What I wish was different

I wish some of the managers treated me like a person. Their hours were also difficult since I would always be working 9-10 hours a day instead of a set time (although overtime pay was given). It was just a stressful experience since you never knew which city you were delivering in and not having a partner made the job a lot harder.

Advice

I only recommend this job if you wanted to make a decent amount of money quickly or if you feel like you could handle the stress of it. With the hours and pay, you could easily make over 40k a year.

Logistics Associate

June - July 2019 • Lawrenceville, GA

What I liked

The corporate culture, fast-paced environment, and ethical managers were a key part in my enjoyment working at Amazon.

What I wish was different

The white badge and blue badge policy needs to be more flexible to support vacation days and promotions.

Advice

Time management and interpersonal skills are vital to succeeding in this fast-paced corporate environment. I understand getting up at 5 AM and driving 30 minutes to the fulfillment center, but managing your time early on is key to long-term success.

Sortation Associate

July - August 2019 • Crest Hill, IL

What I liked

The pay was good, and it was a good workout. I lost weight and built muscle from all of the lifting and moving around the warehouse that I did.

What I wish was different

I wish we would have gotten longer breaks. We were on our feet for 5 hours straight, and if you worked doubles, you were on your feet for 10 hours straight. We only got one fifteen minute break per shift, which included time walking to the break room to sit down.

Advice

Making friends makes the time go by faster.

Inbound Area Manager

May - July 2019 • Murfreesboro, TN

What I liked

Constantly challenging in a good way. Everyday brought a different challenge that required teamwork between managers to overcome and find a solution. I was actively involved with the day-to-day operations and lead an area in the inbound department with around 80 associates. I learned more in these 10 weeks than any class could teach me. Also, this experience gave me real world examples for concepts learned in my supply chain classes. I highly recommend this internship to anybody in a business/engineering major.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship duration was longer and got more than one project.

Advice

You will have a lot of information thrown at you in such a short amount of time. Be prepared for that but don't feel overwhelmed. Try to become an expert in your individual department but still try to learn the other departments in either inbound or outbound. This will help with your project and being able to speak on it will look good on you from higher management.
