Accountant Intern

May - August 2017 • Salt Lake City, UT

What I liked

Friendly, tight-knit finance operation team a lot of team events and get-togethers. I felt really close with all my co-workers and the company culture. The internship also gives you a lot of ownership towards how you want to develop yourself, as you can pick the projects you want to work on! There is tons of freedom and flexibility in working as an intern, and you're never really given "busy work." The company gives you a great introduction to technology and finance.

What I wish was different

Honestly, nothing!

Advice

Don't be afraid to be assertive about what you want to work on! You decide what you get out of this internship. And really take advantage of being around experienced individuals by getting to know them and learning from them.

Associate Application Engineer Intern

May - August 2019 • Pleasanton, CA

What I liked

The experience was tailored towards students and I had constant support from mentors and my manager. It was great to experience work life in the Bay Area and see some of the practices I had learned in class be applied at an actual company. It felt like the company really cared about my future and valued their employees.

What I wish was different

The end-of-internship experience felt a little disjointed and there were conflicting responses from recruiters about my future at the company. In addition, my manager quit before the internship was over and I had to get to know a new one with very little time left.

Advice

Try to get to know co-workers and people outside of your specific team and keep in contact with them. Even if you don't get a return offer for your exact position, the connections you make could land you another job later on.

Security Engineering Intern

May - August 2019 • Pleasanton, CA

What I liked

The Workday intern program is very well designed to match interns with meaningful software development projects which suit their talents and interests. My managers and team members were very involved with making sure I had a meaningful experience with a project that would see future use at the company. My team went out of their way to get me experience in many of the team's functions beyond the scope of my project. I was offered frequent opportunities to showcase my work to other employees and teams throughout the company.

What I wish was different

My internship was well structured and I was matched with a very suitable team and project. I can't say there are any significant problems that damaged my experience.

Advice

As a Software Development Intern you will be recruited into a pool of interns who each rank their preferences from a selection of project offerings. The job posting requirements will be very general, but chances are they have a project that suites someone of any Software Development background.

What I liked

Management was well established and treated us as equals rather than just interns. I worked directly on a final product that has since been released to customers.

What I wish was different

I wish there were more interns in the same field as me, there were a lot of dev interns and only a handful of QA.

Advice

Go to every event you can, even if it seems boring.
