What I liked

I love the community. from the staff to the volunteers and lastly, the amazing campers. everyone feels so welcome. It feels like a family up there! I can honestly say I have made friends for life at camp.

What I wish was different

with every job, there is something that can always improve. training is always getting better. but It could still use a bit more guidance in areas that deal more with people and emotions.

Advice

It can be so eye-opening and heartwarming if you let be. The friends you make and the impact you can have on the campers, volunteers, and fellow staff is amazing. The best thing I ever did was take the job at Wesley Woods! Do you love God, like working with kids, and have a love for the outdoors? This is the best place you can be!

Summer Staff / Housekeeping

What I liked

Loved the atmosphere, especially the environment that the camp is located in. Also liked how the staff felt more tight-knit and family-oriented due to having to work, eat, and sleep 24/7. Kids will LOVE you whenever interacting with them in some way or fashion, and overall love the camp experience, giving an enormous positive reinforcement for all staff and yourself. Lastly, your faith in god will blossom as a Christian upon setting foot on camp.

What I wish was different

I would love to see the grounds and buildings being cared for more, all the while trying the absolute best to preserve camp heritage in the property and structure. Also, training is lacking marginally in some areas such as effective counseling and other jobs like running the camp store with a new system in place, though the training portion has greatly improved over the years.

Advice

If you work here during the summer or off-season volunteering, you will fall in love with this camp, as it feels like home and you always feel connected to god on every inch of the property. It's an overall excellent staff experience, you see every camper grow in faith and as a person in a beautiful way. If you've ever wanted to work with children at a summer camp to help them grow as well as yourself, then this is the right place.
