I liked working with interesting people outside of my usual field of work. I learned a lot about environmental sciences and water quality testing, something that I rarely (if ever) learn about as a chemical engineer.
What I wish was different
I wish that the internship had been at different times of the day (12 - 6 pm was awkward time for me). However, they will most likely change this next summer.
Advice
Start working on the final research paper/report early! You can start writing the introduction as soon as you settle on a topic, so start writing as soon as possible! Don't be afraid to ask questions, especially if you do not have experience in the field (like I did).

What I liked
All of the people I worked with were open and willing to share their experiences, most of them having worked in the field of conservation.
What I wish was different
I wish I had done more research, I ended up doing a lot of tabling. There are also so many opportunities at the aquarium for involvement beyond the internship that I should have gotten involved in like "lunch and learns" or clean up the bay days.
Advice
If you want to go into environmental education, conservation, or even policy this is an awesome job! If you want to do science I would look into other opportunities the aquarium offers.
