About Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center

The Virginia Aquarium showcases Virginia’s diverse and unique marine environment. The 89 acre campus includes: two exhibit buildings; a one-third-mile long nature trail; Virginia native gardens; a 3D theater; gallons of aquariums; interactive exhibits; live animal habitats and two touch pools. The animal collection of approximately 12,000 represents over 700 species. Seasonal boat trips, as well as premium behind the scene exhibits add a deeper dimension to guest visits.

In recent years, research and conservation efforts with the Virginia Aquarium have grown. The Aquarium was the first certified Green Attraction in the Commonwealth. It has also taken the lead by hosting e-cycling events and developing a Sensible Seafood program. The Aquarium’s mission is to inspire conservation of the marine environment through education, research and sustainable practice.
