I liked the fact that I was working 1:1 with a nurse full time over the summer. I got a real look at what it will be like when I graduate. I worked on my communication skills by giving report to physicians, and other nurses. I improved my patient rapport, and I even got some practice talking to families. I also appreciated the fact that I was able to float to different floors throughout the summer, and that I was able to see some surgeries as well.
What I wish was different
I wish it was longer! It went all summer, but I loved it so much that I didn't want it to end!
Advice
Never be afraid to ask! In nursing asking questions is so important, and you should never be embarrassed or hesitant to ask about anything.
