I loved my internship with the Welcome Baby of Utah County program! Everyone in the office is so kind and helpful. I learned a lot and developed so much more confidence. I am currently working with them as an AmeriCorps VISTA until June 2022. You won't regret this internship!
What I wish was different
Nothing! Of course it would be great if it was paid, but I appreciated the opportunity to do volunteer work and serve families in my community.

South Franklin Community Center
January - April 2020 • Provo, UT
What I liked
Throughout my internship at the South Franklin Community Center, what I enjoyed the most was connecting with families or individuals from different culture and background. At the Community Center we offered programs that promoted growth, leadership and offer opportunities to children, teenagers and adults. What I loved was seeing volunteers take time off from their day to come to the Community Center to share their talents with our participants. Not only that but during the COVID-19 pandemic many companies reached out with available resources to help families that are in need. It is experiences like this that I was able to feel a sense of love and unity within the Community.
What I wish was different
I wish the COVID-19 pandemic did not occur, because around mid March the Community Center was closed to the public.
Advice
Participate or create programs or activities that will build and unify your individual communities.

Public Relations Intern
May - August 2019 • Provo, UT
What I liked
I loved working for the United Way of Utah County. I really loved how involved my supervisor was and how committed she was to helping me learn and be successful. I learned a lot about writing messages and getting that message across to different target audiences. I also was grateful that my ideas and thoughts were given space to be expressed and implemented.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had had a bit more time to complete everything that I would have liked with the project. I also wish that it could have been a paid internship, that would have just made it even better.
Advice
I would say to capitalize on personal connections and if you really want an internship to seek one out. Even a non-paid internship as your first experience is worth it, I only worked a few hours a week but still felt that I was using my time effectively while working with the United Way.
