Beacon utilizes an elite-tier consultant as the primary instructor, and an intense, on-premise consulting project for an impressive brand to give students the ability to perform in consulting and helps to signal interest in consulting, all of this gained while studying abroad during a college break.
What’s a Beacon Program?
-Learning full-time from an elite, top tier consultant Project Leader with experience from McKinsey, Bain, or BCG – the top three consulting firms in the world.
-One or several weeks, full-time, during college breaks
-Alumni have gone on to receive full-time and internship offers from all MBB (McKinsey, Bain, BCG), as well as from all Big Four consulting firms
-Housing, meals, insurance, excursions etc.
-An experience that helps you signal to firms that you know what consulting is and that you are very interested in it
-Participants often do another internship in the same summer, before or after Beacon
Beacon’s goal is to expand and challenge the students’ horizons by exposing them directly to elite-level consulting via experienced Project Leads from MBB (and often Harvard Business School), which will stand out on their resumes and equip them with new skill-sets. Beacon alumni reported progressing in key consulting skills, per a study that assessed them on the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes’ Competency Framework. Overall, the students believed they had progressed on 92% of these Core Competencies, which include analytical skills, consulting knowledge, business insight, assignment management, & professionalism. Through our recruitment efforts with universities via Handshake, we are proud to offer a limited number of fully funded programs each season.
Beacon Fellows tackle complex problems for our client partners and so acquire invaluable skills needed for early career-success. In the process, they are able to discern if consulting is the right path for them. Either way, their experience can be leveraged in applying to top firms; alumni have received offers from all top 10 consulting firms, including McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Deloitte, PwC, EY, Accenture, KPMG, Booz Allen, as well as other top companies like Amazon, Goldman Sachs, and more.
