Test Engineering Co-op

June 2022 • Fitchburg, WI

What I liked

I loved the variety of things that I got to work on. I had a ton of exposure to different lines, people, units, tests, programs, etc. I also loved the flexibility that I was given. If you work hard and demonstrate a clear interest and drive to help the company succeed, you can end up working on a lot of projects that interest you and actually benefit the company. I felt like the work that I did really mattered and was valued by my co-workers.

What I wish was different

As someone who enjoys text-based programming, I found myself missing it after doing LabVIEW for a long while. Not really an issue with the company or software though, just personal preference.

Advice

Network! There are so many great, fun people at Sub-Zero. Having a lot of people in your network at the company makes it very easy to ask questions about your projects to the right people and also gives you a great resource for finding new projects if your manager doesn't have anything for you at the moment. Having a team of people you enjoy working with also makes you a lot more productive, and is just flat-out more fun!

Customer Service Work Experience

May 2017 • Fitchburg, WI

What I liked

I am working there as a student throughout the year so I always have a job and can make my own hours around my school schedule. Sub Zero is a very "family" oriented company and they really care about our happiness and how we can improve as a company. They believe all departments are important which really makes you feel valued as an employee. Overall, I love the culture, the customers, the management. Not much to complain about here.

What I wish was different

I wish it would be worked into a rotational program because customer service is so highly valued in the culture of the company and the sales process.

Advice

Be open minded and really take all the direction you get from coworkers and also managers. Everyone does things a little different so you always will be able to learn something.
