Students Helping Honduras

About Students Helping Honduras

Our mission is to alleviate extreme poverty and violence in Honduras through education and youth empowerment. SHH mobilizes thousands of students in a massive and focused effort to empower orphaned and at-risk children in Honduras. We have collegiate chapters at over 100 universities and have sent over 7000 volunteers on service trips to El Progreso, Honduras.

SHH is working to build 1000 schools in villages across Honduras. In addition to school construction, SHH also runs the Villa Soleada Bilingual School, Boys and Girls Children's Home, a college scholarship program and a village project called Villa Soleada. Villa consists of 44 homes with various community projects within. Through youth empowerment and education, we believe we can reduce both poverty and violence in one of the most violent countries in the world.

“I loved working with the kids that I have seen grow up for four years now. The program was a Summer Enrichment giving students of Escuela Bilingüe Villa Soleada a chance to practice their English language skills.”
