I really enjoy the opportunity of being able to get a hands-on experience in a neuroscience laboratory while improving on my skills in the lab and learning many data analysis techniques.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had more support from my PI and mentor during my first few months. I have learned a lot since then and I even started my own project over the summer but I wish I had more time to spend on my part of the project. Since I am also a full time student, it is hard to solely focus on research at this time.
Advice
If you're passionate about something, don't let obstacles stop you from reaching your dreams. If you're dreams don't scare you, they aren't big enough.
