Take the opportunity to speak to other engineers (particularly in QA, tech writing, dev productivity, and product management) and learn about their work!

What I liked

Everything. The people at Salesforce has a way for everyone to feel supported, included, and celebrated. Even as a summer intern, I felt like everyone valued what I had to say, I worked on a meaningful project, and I create relationships with motivated, kind-hearted people. The company culture is unreal and it shapes the way they work by creating tech that helps others.

What I wish was different

The only thing I wish had been different is actually being on-site in San Francisco. There were many times I wished I was in the office, meeting other employees & interns, and exploring the city. With that being said, they did an excellent job at creating an immersive, fun virtual internship experience!

Advice

Come into the workplace curious, no matter where you go. Keep an open mind and don't be afraid to ask questions. Any Salesforce employee I came across was happy to help me and answered all of my "dumb" questions without judgement.

Technical Writing Intern

What I liked

The company culture is fantastic. There's a clear focus on community and giving back to your communities (inside and outside of the office). Interns have the opportunity to take VTO, which is short for Volunteer Time Off. There are also lots of events for interns — I had the chance to go to a couple of free baseball games at AT&T Park, attend the SF Symphony Gala Afterparty, and have dinner at a few nice restaurants. My team was also a great fit for me. I think that your recruiter and your manager do a great job of pairing you with a team that really fits you as a person (and as an employee).

What I wish was different

The company is unlike other tech companies in the Bay Area in that it doesn't have its own "campus" like Apple, Facebook, or Google. This has its ups (you're encouraged to leave work for lunch and explore the city) and downs (SF food is expensive!).

Advice

I was offered free corporate housing or a housing stipend. I wish that I had taken the free housing, as I would have been able to live with other interns. I think that doing so would have made my internship a more immersive experience, and I would have met more people doing so.

What I liked

I had an incredible experience with fantastic, helpful mentors and an excellent internship program. It was great to work and learn within a large, established company like Salesforce and be a part of such an amazing culture. I also loved spending a few months in San Francisco.

What I wish was different

I had some minor technical difficulties with the onboarding process but it was all sorted out pretty quickly.

What I liked

Salesforce is awesome workplace where you get overall development. I worked in Einstein Team at Salesforce on numerous technologies like Scala , AutoML performance and regression testing platforms , Looker etc and I was really impressed to see that an intern gets the opportunity to contribute , discuss and even give out new ideas and implement them! The management is so positive and you are always surrounded by extra ordinary people. This will push you to perform great! The work life balance is really cool. There are numerous intern activities and opportunities. Snacks are awesome at Salesforce Tower!

What I liked

I like the company's values and mission. We do volunteer work and help the community. Also I like how my recruiter is helping me along the way on my 12 weeks interning with them. And also how they tailored the events such as going to Angel Island and watching baseball at Oracle Park and doing Scavenger hunt. In addition, I met and networked with other people that worked in Salesforce for many years and how they journey on where they are right now.

What I wish was different

I wish they given me a project that would be impactful and more sense of teamwork and team building project because I pretty much on my internship I did work on my own. Also I wish I have a different mentor and a more variety of projects to work with because my mentor wasn't really than helpful. He's more frustrated than helpful and less unapproachable. He works late and I work early so I think there's a huge gap of communicating with my mentor so I had to reach more to the other team to help me out on the project. Also my boss didn't see the value in me. I know the company's mission and values a lot and I embraced them entirely. And most of the interns didn't embraced that value and care more about the money that they receive.

Advice

Always know your value is worth and if people don't see that you better start giving more out to other people and show it that your better. If your team doesn't see your value then for sure some other teams will more of it than the one you currently have.

Salesforce is a great place to grow and learn as a young professional. Their internship program is structured, giving you the proper training and understanding of what your tasks are, while being flexible and open to changes and your own path in the company.

It can be quite daunting to be one of 400 interns at a giant corporation.

The interview process is very relaxed and inclusive, so don't be nervous! The recruiters and managers do a great job at finding the right place for you.
