I loved helping with the STAR program. It is a program to match children with sponsors so that they can go to school 1-12 grade. These children are primarily from leprosy colonies so education gives them a huge advantage to overcoming the stigma.
What I wish was different
I wish I had more time to spend at Rising Star. At the time I was also in school full time and working another job so I just didn’t have a lot of time to give there.
Advice
I would recommend volunteering at some of their fundraising events to learn more about the organization. That is what helped me fall in love with the cause and the children that are being helped.
