Software Developer Intern
May - August 2017 • Phoenix, AZ
What I liked
The best part about this internship was being able to be around animals all day. It's really great to work for a company that really stands behind it's brand. All the interns get assigned a project in the beginning of the internship and have the entire summer in order to complete it.
What I wish was different
The timing for this years internship was really unfortunate. Right as all the interns had arrived, there was a 5-10% overall layoff in the headquarter office so overall moral was low and many employees were being overworked. Towards, the end of the internship, the CEO ended up leaving the company which threw even more wrenches into the mix.
Advice
If you want to intern at PetSmart, I would definitely recommend to do research into what project you will be assigned and see if you can even find out before the internship starts. Many interns didn't have projects for the first month and had nothing to do.

Pet care associate
May 2018 • Manahawkin, NJ
What I liked
Taking care of the animals, learning so much about caring for the various different animals, feeling welcome onto the team, and overcoming fear of snakes, tarantulas, and scorpions.
What I wish was different
Nothing. I love the job.
Advice
There are some gross parts such as bagging crickets or cleaning up after animals, but the other great experiences make those parts nearly irrelevant.
