NielsenIQ

Operations Intern

June - September 2021 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

Had a lot of responsibility and worked on an meaningful job surrounded by great people

What I wish was different

I wish it was in person and there were more interesting events to bring together the intern class

Advice

Work hard and reach out to people to learn more about where you can fit into the company. Keep trying to get an internship it will come

Retail Analytics Intern

May - August 2021 • Santa Cruz, CA

What I liked

Great intern onboarding program

What I wish was different

Very little intern connections because of online internship. While I was taught about how to do my job, I wasn't taught much about the company or structure, which was something I wanted to know more about when I got the return offer.

Advice

Make the effort to make connections early, and break out of the mindset of just being an intern.

Forecasting Intern

June - August 2021 • Cincinnati, OH

What I liked

I liked the people & team I was on; they were super welcoming and friendly! I never felt afraid to reach out and ask any questions.

What I wish was different

If it had been in person! Remote was nice, but it would have been smoother (especially onboarding) in person.

Advice

Forecasting specifically fits well with BAIS & CSCI students. But be open to new experiences & constructive criticism!

Commercial Intern

June - August 2021 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I loved the experience and the internship cohort, there were around 40 of us around the country. The people there are incredibly nice and helpful and everyone wants you to succeed and feel valued.

What I wish was different

The experience was great overall so I wouldn't change anything about it!

Advice

Be open and ready to learn a lot. The internship has you in training for 8 out of the 10 weeks of the program. You do work in conjunction with your training but you are always learning and should be prepared to absorb a lot information right off the bat.

PSAE Intern

June - August 2017 • Wilton, CT

What I liked

The people and company culture were incredible. Great support and learning environment for interns. Lots of opportunities for career development and exploring other areas of the business.

What I wish was different

I felt the projects I was doing didn't really make an impact, which is understandable as an intern but still frustrating.

Advice

Network with the people there as much as possible. Schedule shadowing early before you get swamped with your main projects.

Corporate Finance Leadership Program

June - August 2019 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I had a HC graduate as my manager and she was really great about pushing/challenging me but offering support when I needed it. I completed two really great projects under her management and also was able to learn a lot about the company itself.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been provided with a list of HC connections in Chicago. I am from Massachusetts so it was a weird transition and I wish I new of other people from HC who were in the city I was working.

Advice

I would say go in with an open mind willing to learn and willing to ask so many questions.

Commercial Intern

June - August 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

The internship program was fully fleshed out so I had an opportunity to significantly contribute to the team, and there were plenty of resources and events designed to help the interns progress professionally.

What I wish was different

I would have loved to have more say in which division I was ultimately placed in, I was assigned without any input.

Advice

Always step out of your comfort zone, everyone wants to help you learn and grow so ask any question you have and reach out to anyone who's job you're interested in, you never know what doors it will open.
