What I wish was different
I wish my outlet office had been in person.
Advice
The journalism job is incredibly stressful. Not for the faint of heart.

News Intern
May - August 2020 • Washington, DC
What I liked
I got so much real world experience in the broadcast world. I was able to produce videos, news stories for radio, social media posts and marketing related content for my placement. I also made strong connections with people in the industry and have a super mentor now.
What I wish was different
I wish it was in person and not remote.
Advice
You get out as much as you put in. Make the most of this internship by asking questions, reaching out to speakers, saying yes to every project you're assigned and being willing to try things out of your comfort zone. You are the main person pushing yourself and are given so much freedom which is great but challenging at times. But this is what it's like in the journalism world!

What I liked
Engaging, fascinating speakers from every conceivable field in, and adjacent to, journalism. Lots of opportunities to acquire additional experience through hands-on workshops. Great people and company, tours of D.C., and other perks. The office is excellent.
What I wish was different
Not much. You get out of it what you put into it.
Advice
Network with speakers whom you find interesting -- don't worry if you forget it this time, though, since Elizabeth *will* remind you!
