Wealth Management Intern
June - August 2023 • Atlanta, GA
What I liked
The other interns were awesome, they were so kind and inviting. We even hung out on the weekends. My FA was super helpful and always communicated that I was doing a great job
What I wish was different
I don't think they do a great job teaching interns if the interns have absolutely no experience or knowledge of finance. And my FA does not live in Atlanta, so I only got to meet with him a couple of times.
Advice
Its all about connections, every single intern there knew someone either working there or had some sort of close connection to the business.

Sales and Trading Summer Analyst
June - August 2019 • New York City, NY
What I liked
I liked that I was able to interact and network with a lot of different people and rotate through multiple desks rather than stay on one desk. Morgan Stanley is great in that it offers a lot of mobility for their junior analysts since there's both an analyst and associate rotational program for full-time employees that we learned about during the internship.
What I wish was different
No complaints, really. If you're interviewing for S&T, you're probably already aware that you're going to be working for at least 12 hours per day, but at least you don't have to work on weekends.
Advice
Be sociable and talk to as many people as possible!

What I liked
There's a lot of opportunities for mentorship and the flat structure within S&T provides a great way to learn from senior management. It's a very social environment too, so lots of events/things to do throughout the day.

Compliance analyst
May - August 2019 • Baltimore, MD
What I liked
This internship was well organized and placed us in teams that reflected our interest and personalities. We were able to complete some of the same tasks that our teams completed while working on a team project geared towards the improvement of efficient metrics collection and utilization in the legal and compliance division.
What I wish was different
I wish the internship was longer with the option to work over the fall semester.
Advice
If you intern for Morgan Stanley maximize your experience by speaking to coworkers and managers about their career path and experience at the firm. Also, be apart of the public speaking club.

We are all capable of more than we realize. At the beginning of my project, I felt that I did not know what to do and wouldn't be able to complete my project. Nonetheless, I was able to complete my project early thanks to the help of my team and the many resources available at the firm.

Highly competitive program. Great learning experience. Gained a ton of knowledge on hedge fund industry and prime brokerage business
What I wish was different
More prep prior to program about Prime Brokerage Business and what the program entailed.
Advice
Really great program. Competitive to get into but about 2/3 of analysts get return offers. Advice would be to network as much as possible. Go to Women/Diversity events to meet people who currently work there in a more intimate setting.

Summer Finance Analyst
June - August 2019 • Baltimore, MD
What I liked
I really liked the structure of the program. It wasn't just 8 hours of desk work everyday. HR hosted tons of informational events such as Senior Speaker Series and Excel workshops. Each intern was treated like a full time employee. We were given meaningful work that was integral to Morgan Stanley's function. Everyone at the firm was incredibly welcoming and always went above and beyond to make sure we were enjoying our time there.
What I wish was different
I wish there were more facilitated shadowing events. We were always encouraged to reach out to individual teams on our own and schedule shadowing/one-on-one meetings, but most employees were swamped with work and that made it difficult to schedule time. Perhaps HR could create weekly or biweekly events that showcase various teams and introduce who they are to the intern group as a whole.
Advice
Take advantage of every opportunity you get. Get to know as many people as you can and learn about what they do at the firm. There are many outside-of-work group activities such as volunteer events, Orioles games and game nights; go to all of them! Not only are they so much fun, but they allow you to get to know your peers and coworkers outside of the office.

What I liked
I was given an interesting project, I met many intelligent and inspirational people, and I was able to contribute to Morgan Stanley's teams
What I wish was different
Nothing really. Setting up the environment took a little longer than it should due to Morgan Stanley's procedures
Advice
Go out of your way to meet people. The internship is not just about the project, it's also about all the advice you get from successful people

Summer Analyst
June - August 2019 • Baltimore, MD
What I liked
The experience was amazing. I learned so much about the financial industry and how the operations of a financial firm like Morgan Stanley work on an internal level. I was able to shadow many teams and find what I liked. Excellent opportunity.
What I wish was different
I thought this experience was exactly what I was looking for and would not change anything.
Advice
Make sure you put your best foot forward everyday at work. It is an amazing firm and some times when you are going through trainings, etc, it can seem boring but you are learning new things everyday and it’s important to be a sponge and absorb it all!
