What I liked
I really appreciate haven been given the ability to work on one of the most successful finance teams in the history of New Jersey Congressional races. I learned so much from the knowledgable staff and saw first hand what a well-oiled fundraising arm can do for a campaign.
What I wish was different
To be honest, I have little to no complaints about the experience.I feel that learning the tools of the trade on my own was a valuable experience in and of itself. It may have been frustrating at the beginning, but it certainly helped me in the long term.
Advice
I would urge anyone in a similar position to seek ways to take on more responsibilities. In my case, I was originally intended to work as just a Finance Intern. As time went on, the campaign staff saw that I was able and willing to take more responsibilities. Due to my eagerness to do more work, I was rewarded with a promotion to a larger position with the organization. I think that showing the willingness to do more than what is asked of you goes a long way and can only result in positive outcomes.
