What I liked

I loved my team, everyone was really helpful in learning the things that needed to be done. I miss them a lot.

What I wish was different

My store closed, that's why I don't have a job now. So I wish it didn't close and I could have transfered to a store down here near school.

Advice

Always be willing to learn new things and just because it is nothing like you expected doesn't mean it's not a good thing.

Cashier

August 2020 • Mays Landing, NJ

What I liked

The environment and setting of being in a creative place. My coworkers were really nice and welcoming as a new hire.

What I wish was different

Probably not getting a new job in the middle of a pandemic. It added more to the training and hiring.

Advice

Don’t be nervous to start a new job because you never know how well you’ll do and might end up getting a promotion. I’ve been there for four months and just got promoted to a manager position.

What I liked

The flexibility of hours

What I wish was different

Scheduling could have been better. The GM doesn't pay attention to schedule availability so it caused a bit of a problem.

Advice

It's work experience. You encounter a variety of people so you see the spectrum of how coworkers and supervisors can be.

Cashier

June - August 2016 • Long Island City, NY

What I liked

The atmosphere of my store was very calm, of course there were times when the job was stressful but never to the point that I couldn't handle it.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more time to learn the store, I was trained as a cashier but was also asked to work around the store cleaning and assisting customers. It was difficult to answer questions that I didn't know the answer to.

Advice

Spend time learning about the store before you apply, or after the application. If you are hired it'll help make the transition as an employee much smoother.
