Meadowscaping for Biodiversity (MS4B) is a project-based outdoor environmental education program that provides youth 7-19 with real-world opportunities in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) learning. MS4B curriculum supports the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks with participatory, hands-on, problem-solving activities and positive experiences for addressing challenges to the environment and our society.
We offer two kinds of FUN successful programs: 1. afterschool, summer, and vacation Meadow Clubs for students age 7 - 14, and 2. the Youth Environmental Entrepreneurship Program (YEEP) for teens age 15 - 19.
In our age-appropriate programming, we offer youth of all backgrounds and capabilities a meaningful, empowering opportunity to be outdoors, to develop environmental literacy, and to be Citizen Scientists doing meaningful work that boosts their self-esteem and affects their local communities and the world. This program celebrates the Earth and reinforces the benefits from healing the environment in ways that youth can understand and pay forward.
Appropriate kinds of work — paying work and volunteering, which are interesting and challenging — is good for teens and helps them meet short- and long-term personal, academic, and career-readiness goals.
College interns and staff serve as mentors, encouraging participants to contribute to a shared challenge.
