McDonalds

Crew Trainer

March 2016 • Rexburg, ID

What I liked

The hours are flexible, the pay is decent for a fast-food job in Rexburg, and the working environment is pleasant for the most part.

What I wish was different

There are times when the lunch/dinner rushes get a little crazy and it's hard to keep up, but such is life in the fast-food industry.

Advice

If you put your mind to it and give it everything you have, there isn't anything you can't accomplish.

What I liked

What I wish was different

Management! Night shift was severely understaffed every night. The managers would yell at me to find something to do (even though I was clearly doing something) and then they would go and sit in the lobby and talk or play on their phones when it was clear we needed their help because of the amount of customers. Another was one of the managers bent over and twerked right in front of me (I was a minor at the time). She blocked the entire isle so that I can not go to the storage room as she twerked.

Advice

Do not work here.

Crew Trainer

November 2016 • Kingsport, TN

What I liked

I liked the learning experience. I liked 'cooking'. The best part was (some of) the people. I was able to build good relationships with my managers and coworkers.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have had more time in high school to work.

Advice

Everyone should have a menial part time job for a year at least and work hard. Learn how bad it can be to deal with customers and management. Not all experiences will be bad, but you will run into a bad situation. These jobs help learn work ethic and the value of an earned dollar. It also helps you empathize with part time workers you run into in the future. If your order at a Taco Bell or Wendy's takes an extra couple minutes, you can understand why and have some patience instead of anger.

June - August 2019 • Mason, MI

What I liked

When I worked mornings, I really liked how coordinated everyone was. I always knew that someone had my back if something went wrong, just like how I was there for them if they needed me. Another thing I enjoyed is that everyone treated each other with respect and customers were taken care of to the best of everyone's ability.

What I wish was different

I wish that there were more people staffed during during the afternoon. After about 3 P.M. hit, the store was left with two people up front, two cooks, and one person at back cash register. Normally, there was at least 4 people working up front, three cooks, and one or two people at back cash register depending on the day. I also wish that customers would not have gotten so upset over small things like repeating their order, but I know that that cannot be helped at times.

Advice

If you decide to work there, it definitely will get you started in the job world. The managers are very nice and will help you out the best they can if you get lost. It does get busy at times, but you can always make it through the rush hour! Everyone can rely on each other!

Mcdonald’s Team Member

June - August 2019 • Madison, AL

What I liked

In my short time, I loved having the opportunity to accommodate a variety of customers everyday while learning several positions of the service process.

What I wish was different

The work ethic of select leaders lacked at times, especially in training. It caused a new worker like myself to become more tense and nervous. Conversely, stock organization was also poor and slowed the service line at times.

Advice

Although a basic position, I found it necessary and very beneficial to experience the service industry. Furthermore, it confirmed my medical career pursuit by assuring I enjoyed accommodating citizens of all ages, particularly senior citizens.
