McDonald's

Crew

January 2018 - March 2019 • Corpus Christi, TX

What I liked

The fast paced environment and variety of customers made every day breeze by.

What I wish was different

The upper management had practically nonexistent communication with the employees.

Advice

McDonald's is a job that is way more involved than your'd think, the best advice I can give is to just not to take the negative customer experiences personally. While bad behavior is still unacceptable, your interaction isn't always due to poor service. Sometimes people just have bad days. I still take this advice even now that I've moved on and I continue to enjoy customer service positions.

Fastfood

July - August 2019 • South Milwaukee, WI

What I liked

I enjoyed the short commute and the relatively flexible hours.

What I wish was different

I wish the process of hiring would have been more streamlined. I feel the only reason I was hired at all was due to constantly calling back to check the status of my application.

Advice

Although fast food isn't considered the best part-time job, it still pays enough to at least purchase your textbooks. Don't automatically discount it.

Crew

April 2018 • Surprise, AZ

What I liked

This job offers a flexible schedule that's very understanding for full-time students, while additionally offering tuition assistance as well. It is easy to jump into any position and perform well if you put in the effort required to be successful. McDonald's provides a competitive hourly wage, with opportunities to earn a raise biannually.

What I wish was different

Some coworkers will be unreliable - often calling off or even quitting moments before their shift - leaving you to pick up their slack and complete two to three person jobs by yourself.

Advice

This job provides excellent experience in working with small groups under extreme pressure, and can be very rewarding if you are committed and responsible.

Crew Member

June - August 2019 • Cherry Hill, NJ

What I liked

The management was great. I felt comfortable to voice my concerns and supported by my store manager. The staff was nice and friendly to one another.

What I wish was different

The clientele often would openly insult me on my intelligence and question every decision I made. Some were nice, normal people and some honestly were so mean that I honestly didn't know how they had survived to adulthood. I grew a backbone of steel by my second week there.

Advice

Don't look at the clock as it'll only make time go slowly. Remember not to take what the customers say to heart, they are terrible people who know you for a minute at most.
