Six Marshfield physicians pooled their expertise in 1916 to form Marshfield Clinic, founding what has grown to be one of the largest private, multispecialty group practices in the United States. Physicians in 86 specialties and subspecialties in more than 50 Wisconsin locations provide care to patients for them to live fuller, richer lives. In addition, Security Health Plan of Wisconsin, Inc., is the health maintenance organization owned by Marshfield Clinic, providing comprehensive health insurance options to more than 200,000 people across all 72 counties in Wisconsin. Security Health Plan was created in 1986 as an outgrowth of Greater Marshfield Health Plan, established in 1971.
