Manalive Media Group LLC

Film Development Intern

January - August 2021 • Encino, CA

What I liked

Manalive Media Group was an incredible experience for me. I learned a great deal working as a Film Development Intern, but what has meant the most to me are the relationships I made along the way. Manalive is very much a team where everyone's voice and opinion are welcomed. I worked closely with Manalive upper executives and with my fellow interns who all extended their support, knowledge, and kindness. Manalive truly invests in each of their interns and treats them as "young executives," as CEO Douglas Dye always reminded us!

Advice

Manalive Media Group invests a lot in their interns and trusts them with major responsibilities. In turn, it is important to come ready to work and learn everyday. Bring your A-game. Manalive Media Group always encourages their interns to try their best. Mistakes are seen as a learning opportunity, and they encourage their interns not to be afraid of failure.

I found this internship to be an incredible learning experience that offers interns an opportunity for engagement and personal growth. As a Culture Studies intern, I worked on a variety of tasks for Manalive. Team Manalive works closely with you to find the most beneficial way to personally engage. They truly care about your personal/professional development and will endeavor to align your work so that it is mutually beneficial to both you and the mission of the company.

What I wish was different

Though this opportunity is unpaid and remote, it still offers a great experience to communicate with professionals and gain hands on experience in the film industry.

Advice

I would advise others to be patient, open minded, and team oriented. Zoom dynamics can be difficult for collaboration, but the leadership, Advisory Board members, and other interns at Manalive are all amazing people with a diverse set of talents and life experience. What I liked

As a Film Development Intern, the lessons learned and knowledge acquired from Manalive Media Group is incomparable. What I liked

I believe this is one of the best learning opportunities for anyone looking to gain hands on experience working in the entertainment industry. I was able to work on the financial and operational aspects of the organization, while also helping with film development. Manalive boasts an incredibly talented intern cohort, and provides them the opportunity to connect with leaders across various industries. You will be doing meaningful work as a part of a purpose-driven company.
