Every lab is distinctly different, but I love how flexible my job is. I choose how many hours I want to work a week, not only that but I choose when I work during the week. My lab provides every avenue for their employees to grow. If someone wants to start their own project they will provide that individual with the training and experience required to complete their project independently.
What I wish was different
There are very mundane aspects about the job that I wish could change. The lab is isolated and as a result it is lonely. There will be many long hours of solitude. To some that may be a plus but for me personally it was not enjoyable.
Advice
This is a job that can only be taken full advantage of through years of commitment. You essentially lose the edge over competitors if you slack up and do the minimum within the lab. Try and start this job as soon as possible so opportunities aren't missed.
