Logan Growth Advisors

Investment Banking Winter Analyst

January - April 2022 • Provo, UT

What I liked

Unparalleled exposure and involvement in sell-side deals, there was a steep learning curve but great training and support throughout the whole internship. I left being able to speak to the M&A process and my experience building teasers, CIMs, and working with models. Koller and Bob were great resources and really invested in seeing all of their interns grow and succeed both in and out of the firm. All in all, the internship was excellent real-life prep for IB; LGA gave me the confidence to recruit and land an offer at a NY boutique.

What I wish was different

The only cons would be the typical IB work-life balance cons but LGA minimized that by really respecting our time and making sure we had time to take care of our physical and mental wellbeing during the workweek.

Advice

Take advantage of all the opportunities LGA offers by taking on different types of projects and maintaining relationships with your peers & supervisors.

What I liked

The best part about working for LGA is the team. I've been able to work closely with Bob and Kevin, and have been given large responsibilities that I would not have been given at a bulge-bracket investment bank. LGA does a great job at finding what you are good at and utilizing those skills while pushing you to be better. I've learned more about M&A than I ever could have imagined.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have worked with the LGA team in-person. But I've enjoyed the remote experience.

Advice

Anyone looking to get into IB, or specifically trying to intern at LGA, needs to be self-motivated. You need to know that IB is what you're wanting to do out of undergrad and strive to learn as much as you can. You need to develop a thick skin and have a "get it done no matter what" mentality. If you do these things you will be successful at LGA. The more you do, the more confident you will become. Don't beat yourself up and just keep pushing forward.
