Lines for Life is a non-profit dedicated to preventing substance abuse and suicide, because those concerns touch so many families in our society. We have served tens of thousands of people with addiction and mental health issues. We help prevent suicides, and we work with callers to reduce suicidal risk and ideation. We connect callers with intervention services, and with referrals for treatment. We also provide drug-prevention education services.
What that really looks like: Lines for Life’s Crisis Lines answered more than 73,000 calls in 2016. We’re able to de-escalate about 98% of the over 17,000 suicide line calls we receive annually. Our crisis lines services are free not only to those in crisis, but to concerned friends & family members who believe their loved one is at risk.
Lines for Life is on the Oregon Business’ list of 100 Best Non-Profits to Work for in Oregon. We are made up of just over 50 employees and over 250 volunteers.
