Licking County Settlers

Director of Ticket Sales

May - August 2019 • Newark, OH

What I liked

I enjoyed getting to obtain experience in the sports industry and meeting new people. I also got to watch some great baseball and learn a lot about the local community and the fan base for the Settlers. I also was able to oversee merchandise sales and manage the inventory for that which for me I enjoyed because I was able to manage something of significance.

What I wish was different

I wish I would've been in closer proximity to the location of the internship. It was 100 miles round trip for me to go to a game of which that lasted all summer. However, the Settlers were the closest team to me without having to move for the summer. Also, this was an unpaid internship that which many sports internships are.

Advice

Like anything in life, everything is all about "what you put in you'll get out of it." The more you put into your internship, the more you'll get out of it and be more prepared for the next step in your career.

Athletic Trainer Intern

June - August 2018 • Newark, OH

What I liked

I was able to watch baseball and apply what I have learned from HESS classes to the internship.

What I wish was different

I wish I could apply rehab to the athletes, but I was not able to because of regulations of treating athletes that are not Denison’s.

Advice

It’s amazing. If you like working at the trading center or a first aider, this internship is the one to do. I would also get a job on campus like the bookstore to pay for your housing and to get money because this internship does not pay.
