Pay was adequate, got plenty of hours

What I wish was different

I wish they hadn’t been so intense about getting credits. They told me when I started that the more credits I got, the more hours I would be scheduled for. But it got to the point that I was getting so many credits that they wouldn’t honor my requests off even though I would get them in before the schedule came out.

Work a department, not the cash registers.

I really liked the hands on training I received from Kohl’s along with learning how the company worked.

What I wish was different

I wish I had gotten more time to meet my mentor. He and I were from different stores so I only got to meet him in person at the end of my internship.

Advice

Be ready to run around a lot and get your hands dirty.

I liked that the staff was very friendly with me and we grew to be close friends with a lot of my coworkers

I wish my manager would have reserved more time to train me personally because I felt like I was being tossed around different leaders of the conference to see what they could teach me instead of having a set plan of what I was supposed to learn with them

Advice

If you enjoy being on your feet and always having something to do, this is the job for you

What I liked

I loved my supervisors and associates! They were all very supportive in helping me grow and learn.

What I wish was different

I wish I could've had more experience at other stores. We visited the Greenville and Spring Valley stores, and it was interesting to see how other stores run compared to mine.

Advice

Be open to everything. It's ok to fail so long as you learn from it, and the more you learn, the more opportunities you'll have.

I liked the opportunity to multi task. This job required a variety of separate tasks required to complete, and i believe that helped me grow.

What I wish was different

I wish that we were taught how to better communicate with the customers. Often times we were asked questions from customers in which we would never know the answers to.

Advice

I would suggest to listen to your trainers and supervisors as close as possible. You will be asked to do a variety of tasks and must remember the process for completing each.
