About JVS SoCal

Founded in 1931, JVS SoCal is a non-profit social service and workforce development agency that provides intensive employment and career services to a diverse population of employed, unemployed and underemployed individuals. In 2017, we provided programs and services to over 30,000 individuals, and self-service career and job search information to another 20,000 individuals. With current staff of 240 and annual budget of $23 million, JVS SoCal assists individuals in defining and achieving their employment goals through industry specific training programs, career and employment counseling, job search skills, job development and job placement assistance. JVS SoCal operates twenty (20) offices and service sites throughout Los Angeles County and is expanding into Long Beach and North Orange County.

“I enjoyed the ability to meet people from all different walks of life. I was able to create my own lesson plans and work one on one with adult immigrants learning English. This English teaching was a very different experience for me as it was very directed towards vocational achievements. We worked with students on their resumes, but also taught them how to approach interviews and what adjectives and verbs would be applicable in these interviews. It was amazing being able to watch the students obtain jobs through using the skills we had developed in the class. I loved my experience here. ”
