Intern/RA

July - August 2019 • Denton, TX

What I liked

I originally applied to just be an RA for the Joffrey Summer Intensive. However I am grateful that I received a position as both an RA and an Intern because I learned a lot more than I would have than just being an RA.

Advice

Be ready to work hard and to dive into the experience Joffrey has to offer you because you will walk out the other side with new skills in your tool kit.

Intern

July - August 2019 • Denton, TX

What I liked

Leaving home for the summer was a huge part of learning how to be more of an independent adult, so I liked being out of my comfort zone and exploring a new city with the other interns. The job itself was extremely hands-on which I loved because even though I had a lot of responsibility, I left with a great sense of accomplishment.

Administrative Assistant Intern

June - August 2018 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

I loved that I was able to travel across the country and experience both Los Angeles and San Francisco. I also liked that I was able to work closely with different groups of people.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had a little more training. It wasn’t as in depth as I would have preferred.

Advice

Definitely get comfortable quickly with your tasks, and always ask questions if you’re not sure!

Health & Wellness Intern

May - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I got a lot of hands-on experience helping dancers manage injuries and practice with basic first-aid. I learned a lot about the health field in general, as well as made a lot of connections in New York City that I will come back to in the future!

What I wish was different

I wish that the company I worked for had been more organized, and that my job responsibilities had been clearer before I began the internship.

Advice

An internship is a great opportunity in and of itself, but don't forget to be on the lookout for other opportunities you might find as a result of the internship!
