The experience I gained working under experienced high voltage technicians was unparalleled. I was able to see behind the scenes of Disney and how their entire power grid operates. I also met a lot of important people high within the Disney ranks.

What I liked

Working under the high voltage technicians at Disney World was extremely insightful. I was able to shadow the operations manager which helped me fully understand how power is distributed across 7,100+ acres of developed land within Disney property.

What I liked

I recently accepted a position as a Recruiter with Insight Global. I graduated about a year ago from OU and have been working in a completely different industry. I needed a change so I started researching companies in Dallas. I pursued IG because they are known for having great culture, helping their new employees find their careee path, and really care about each employee’s success. The interview process took about 2 weeks, I received an offer and they didn’t pressure me to make a decision right away which was nice. It’s definitely a different kind of interview process but IG is a staffing firm so it makes sense and I liked it. A recruiter reached out and coached me through the whole process and was honest about everything, making sure to answer all of my questions. I am excited to start my new career here and encourage anyone who is looking for a challenging and fast paced work life to pursue IG.

What I wish was different

I can’t really say anything about the actual job since I haven’t started yet, but I wouldn’t change the interview process. It’s quick and to the point and you’ll know if this company is for you right away.

Advice

A piece of advice for any OU student deciding on offers, ask ALL of your questions. Be sure to receive a written offer and confirm your salary, benefits, 401k, commission, perks, etc. make sure that you understand what you will REALLY be doing day to day in your new job. I asked IG all of these questions and they answered. Reach out to OU alumni who work at IG and they’ll be happy to tell you what it’s like. Also, listen to your recruiters advice on what to ask during your interview. A second piece of advice: I understand if one job seems more appealing than another, but never choose something because it’s easier. Go with your gut. Do something that challenges you and I promise you’ll have a more fulfilling career from it!
