Helpful Village builds the software that runs the Village Movement.
Villages are local, volunteer-driven communities where neighbors help neighbors stay independent, connected, and at home as they age — a ride to the doctor, a fix for the iPad, a lightbulb changed, a yoga class, a friendly visit. Ninety percent of older adults want to age in their own homes, and more than 300 Villages across the United States and Canada make that possible.
Our platform is where a Village lives: membership, volunteers, service requests, events, websites, and payments in one place that older adults actually enjoy using. We are the market leader, powering about 130 Villages in 29 states and Canada, and thousands of members and volunteers use Helpful Village every day.
We are a small, focused, AI-native team based in the La Jolla / UC San Diego area, founded and led by a software engineer who still builds the product. Our plan for the next two years is simple: reach 90% of the Villages market, and help many more older adults discover what a Village can do for them.
Helpful Village began at UC Berkeley, where it was selected for LAUNCH, the University of California startup accelerator run by the Haas School of Business.
