About Gotoco - China Projects

Gotoco is a social enterprise focused on boosting a broad range of cultural exchange and exploration opportunities between China and the West.

One of our main projects is our annual China Summer Camp TEFL Teaching project. This is a FREE and FUNDED opportunity offered to 500 students per year from across Canada, the UK and the US. All participants on this program are provided with free TEFL certification, meals, accommodation, beginner Chinese lessons and a 5-day tour of our base in the beautiful mountains of Yangshuo – a small town not far from the Vietnamese border. This is an excellent way to undertake useful work experience whilst exploring a fascinating country – all free and funded. “I really appreciated the people (counselors, campers, etc.) who were at Vanke Fuxian Lake International CampUS, where I was placed by Gotoco. I learned a lot, from how to count in Chinese fashions (in Mandarin and on fingers) to Chinese cultural values to much, much, more. I rediscovered a passion for rock climbing. I made new friends. And, I got to explore the Yangshuo area in the Guangxi Province (after finishing my internship; also via Gotoco). I loved doing sport with the kids, cracking cross cultural/linguistic jokes with the counselors, and getting to be and grow somewhere new. Best of all, perhaps, I rediscovered a love for and for the creating of camp.”
