Entegris

Manufacturing Engineering Intern

June - September 2023 • San Luis Obispo, CA

What I liked

Great work environment. Since it is a smaller business, you can work on projects that actually matter.

What I wish was different

I wish some of the projects were a little more doable within the summer timeframe.

Advice

One should get used to walking around the facility and learning people's names.

Life Science Membrane Engineer Intern

May - August 2020 • Bedford, MA

What I liked

I loved being able to work on my own project while still having people to bounce ideas off of and check my progress along the way.

What I wish was different

I wish it was longer! Internships tend to be great for introducing yourself to a company but to go in depth 6 months would be better.

Advice

Always question experimental results and test the rigorously otherwise you will have weak conclusions that have no real basis.

Chemical Engineering Co-op

January - July 2019 • Billerica, MA

What I liked

Workplace culture was supportive and understanding. Flexible schedules and various training opportunities ranging from statistical analysis to hazardous chemical training were offered.

What I wish was different

I would have liked more face to face time with management and my supervisor to get feedback on my work.

Advice

Make sure to ask questions when unsure about the next step to take- educated decisions are critical when working with different chemistry.

Process Engineering Intern

May - August 2019 • Billerica, MA

What I liked

My team was very welcoming and got me up to speed as fast as possible. They also gave me a variety of projects to work on, which involved a mix of desk work and lab work. Since everyone on my team had different backgrounds, I was able to learn more about different subject areas, and was sometimes asked to contribute my own expertise.

What I wish was different

Sometimes I had time where I couldn't work on one or more of my projects due to needing lab equipment that was in use for higher priority work. It would've been better to have more desk work tasks to work on during this down time.

Advice

Entegris was a great company to work for and I really enjoyed my internship. It's a good place to intern for someone who wants to feel like an important part of their team and be given a fair amount of responsibilities.

What I wish was different

More responsibility would have been nice from the beginning.

Advice

Go into the internship and never stop asking what else you can do to help and never stop asking questions. Fully immerse yourself!
