Endeavor Communications

Marketing Intern

April 2020 • Cloverdale, IN

What I liked

1) The people. I love my team and there is a lot of trust and support between my coworkers and I. We always have each others backs and support each others success (personally and professionally). 2. Dynamic Environment. With multiple brands under one house it is interesting to see how each one is ran and marketed. Every day there is something new for each brand. In the summer, you develop a variety of skills that are transferable to any job market. Expect tasks that are heavy in design, communication, and content creation. You are never bored. 3. Responsibilities. I have worked three summers at Endeavor and now work part time throughout the year, I have always been appreciative of the roles I have been put in. Even in my first summer my opinion was always valued and I was given opportunities to gain more trust and responsibilities. I am now a huge team player in many ongoing projects for marketing, such as social media, our champions program, and media creation. I love that even when you first walk through the door you are given opportunities to show your strengths and find where you fit best for the team.

What I wish was different

In the summer of 2020 the internship was remote, which was a big change from previous years. I feel that there definitely was a difference in the level of communication and camaraderie that is common when working at Endeavor. However, I must recognize Endeavor’s ability to adapt to new situations. I feel that management recognized that there was less communication and camaraderie (which is to be expected when you can’t have your ‘water-cooler’ conversations everyday with your coworkers) and implemented weekly updates throughout the company, as well as team channels for banter if desired.

Advice

As an intern, they know that not everything you create will be perfect. Don’t expect it to be. Of course put in your best effort, but what really matters is how you handle the feedback. Listen to it. Accept it. Implement it. In Marketing, everything we do is collaborative. Being able to work with others and listen to advice is a huge part of being successful here.

Marketing Intern

June - August 2020 • Cloverdale, IN

What I liked

I did this internship remotely for most of the summer, which was helpful with life transitions. I also enjoyed working on design pieces and putting my writing skills to use on many projects, including keeping their company blog updated and relevant. I also connected with the other marketing intern and became good friends, inside and outside the office.

What I wish was different

I struggled a lot of the time to feel that I was valued and seen. Some weeks there wasn't much responsibility given to me and I wrestled with my worth due to lack of consistent communication with my advisor. I wish I would've experienced stronger leadership who took notice of me professionally and personally throughout the process, since an internship experience is short-lived and difficult.

Advice

I would say that it's okay to ask for things to be changed in an office environment if you're hurting (within reason of course). Toward the end of my time there I was more vocal to my advisor(s) about my difficulties and they offered amends and implemented a weekly call with me the last few weeks of my time there.
