Cashier and Barista

February - July 2019 • Dallas, PA

What I liked

I enjoyed working with people and brightening customer's days whenever possible. I enjoyed making drinks and food in a fast paced, challenging environment.

What I wish was different

I wish management did more to control certain employee's toxic behaviors. Conflict between other workers was higher at this job than any other I have worked at and it affected productivity for everyone.

Advice

I would tell everyone to try working at least one food or retail job in their life to understand the hard work that goes into it.

Crew Member

June - August 2019 • North Attleboro, MA

What I liked

I liked the customer interactions, whether taking their orders or preparing and delivering their coffee. The fast pace kept me busy and interested in my work.

What I wish was different

I wish that the work atmosphere had been friendly. Some coworkers acted like they didn't want to be there, and bad-mouthed customers.

Advice

Retail isn't a hard job, but that doesn't mean it isn't challenging. I felt overwhelmed sometimes by the weight of customer demands, especially in the afternoon when the store was understaffed, added to the little maintenance tasks (refilling coffee shuttles, clearing counters). I just tried to keep a positive attitude, and seek to gain as much as I could from the experience.
