The Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant is a two-unit electrical generating station located on 650 acres along Lake Michigan's eastern shoreline. The station is owned and operated by Indiana Michigan Power (I&M), which is an operating company of American Electric Power (AEP).

I&M serves 575,000 customers in Indiana and Michigan. It is headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and is one of nine operating companies that comprise AEP.

AEP is one of the largest electric utilities in the United States, delivering electricity to more than 5 million customers in 11 states. AEP ranks among the nation's largest generators of electricity, owning more than 38,000 megawatts of generating capacity in the U.S.
