I liked answering questions that the customers had and providing them an excellent and happy experience. I often worked on custard and I loved making banana splits and making their sundaes look as great as possible.
What I wish was different
Sometimes customers attitudes aren't the nicest even when our involvement had nothing to do with it. Sometimes rude people would come in and order and take out their emotions on us.
Advice
Even if a customer takes out their feelings on you, always smile and try to make their day better. Always have a nice and understanding tone when a customer is upset and provide a solution if their order is wrong. Keep a positive attitude.

Advice
Be patient, there’s going to be times when people test you but you have to stay calm in those situations. You’re going to have people you don’t like working with as much as others but still try and make the most of it. You’re also going to have customers that get on your nerves but just remember it’s only one shift and the next day will more than likely be better.

What I wish was different
A few managers were young and immature sometimes they were not the best authority

Manager at Culvers
January 2017 • Fox Lake, IL
What I liked
I love the people that i work with and the people that i work for. I also love helping the guests as much as I can.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had worked towards a management position earlier on, although I am grateful for becoming a manager and taking on a larger responsibility.
Advice
I would say to not let other guests get under your skin and be able to not lose your cool when someone snaps at you or anything like that. Treat others like you want to be treated.

Crew Trainer
May 2019 • Saint Paul, MN
What I liked
Through my experience as a Crew Trainer, I liked how I was able to think about how I perform my typical duties by explaining them to others. Being a trainer has allowed me to reflect on what I have learned, what I remember, and how I can help others garner important skills for a given role.
What I wish was different
I wish I would have been able to train on more roles. My manager only put me on a few select ones, so it would have been nice to understand how I can train on more than just Guest Attendant or Cashier.
Advice
Any type of leadership role is great experience. Although I am a STEM Major, working as a trainer has allowed me to develop my leadership skills, which will be critical in any environment. Don't be afraid to branch out and work your way up the chain of command.

What I liked
Culver’s (and their franchisees in this case) is an excellent, inclusive company that treats their team members well. Their core values shine through in day-to-day operations and the managers genuinely care about delivering the value that Culver’s promises. Hours are very flexible and I had no problem getting time off or adjusting my schedule when necessary. Additionally, training was comprehensive and provided in depth knowledge of their processes so that everyone was well-prepared for their job. A great place to work, especially for college students looking to support themselves on a tight schedule.

Advice
One piece of advice: Make sure you’re a people person! Culver’s heavily emphasizes hospitality, so be ready to interact with guests, ensure they have a great experience, and leave happy every time.
