I really enjoyed the way that the staff allowed me to take on my own projects and jump in right away. I was given the freedom to write materials that were sent to their members, talk to other state directors, and put my own voice into their organization, despite only being there for a short amount of time.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had the chance to participate in some of their outward facing projects. Most of my work was confined to the office setting, but the organization also holds events for members and politicians that I would have enjoyed attending.
Advice
Don't be afraid to take on projects and suggest recommendations! The staff is very open to all ideas and want their interns to be an active part in the process.
